Stanley & The Undercovers
One day in the early 2000’s, Stanley was in the Guitar Center in Boston on his never-ending quest for the perfect instrument and amp. He was playing a progression from a tune he’d written, when he heard from a few aisles over another customer playing some tasty licks to that progression. He followed the sound to its origin and there was John Gibson. Conversation ensued, primarily about the pros and cons of various amps. Both John and Stanley decided to buy an amp, and they said their goodbyes. Then, Stanley says, “As we were going our separate ways, I had the presence of mind to run after him and get his phone number. Two weeks later, I gave him a call and we arranged for him to sit in with the band I was part of at the time. Thus began a musical partnership that has spanned almost two decades. The band sprang up from two guys who played together before they’d even met.”
After a while John brought along his bass-playing work buddy, Tom Guerrero, and they settled into the classic rock groove that they all loved playing. They had some difficulty finding an excellent drummer who could commit to the band—until John Sullivan answered a notice on Facebook.
Stanley & The Undercovers is now a complete line-up of musicians whose goal is to make you happy, to brighten your eyes and bring a smile to your face, to move you to sway along or—even better—to get up and dance!
